How to Self-Install a Fios TV One Mini Box
This is a very easy guide you can send to a client. Short sentences. Follow the steps in order.
Quick checklist (before you start)
- Your Fios TV One Mini Box, power adapter, HDMI cable, and remote.
- TV turned on and set to the correct HDMI input.
- Wi-Fi name and password, or an Ethernet cable.
- Verizon account info (account number or email) handy in case activation is needed.
Step 1 — Unpack and check the parts
- Open the box and take out the mini box, remote, HDMI cable, and power adapter.
- Check batteries in the remote. Replace if needed.
- Make sure nothing is damaged.
Step 2 — Place the mini box
- Put the mini box near the TV.
- Leave space around it for airflow. Don’t cover it.
Step 3 — Connect the HDMI cable
- Plug one end of the HDMI cable into the mini box.
- Plug the other end into an available HDMI port on the TV.
- Note which HDMI input number you used (HDMI 1, 2, etc.).
Step 4 — Connect to the network
Choose one method below:
- Ethernet (recommended if available):
- Plug one end of an Ethernet cable into your router.
- Plug the other end into the mini box LAN port.
- Wi-Fi:
- You will choose Wi-Fi during setup. Have your Wi-Fi name and password ready.
- If the box asks to scan for networks, pick your network and enter the password.
(If your home uses MoCA or a special network setup, follow the Verizon instructions provided with the box or call support.)
Step 5 — Power up the mini box
- Plug the power adapter into the mini box and into the wall.
- Turn on the TV and set the TV input to the HDMI port you used.
- The mini box will show a startup screen.
Step 6 — Follow on-screen activation steps
- The box will guide you through activation. Read each on-screen prompt.
- If asked, choose language and accept terms.
- If activation requires your Verizon account, enter the account info or follow the instructions to activate online or by phone.
Step 7 — Pair the remote (if prompted)
- The box may ask you to pair the remote. Follow on-screen steps.
- Usually you press and hold a specific button shown on the screen.
- Test the remote by changing channels and adjusting volume.
Step 8 — Test channels and apps
- Open the guide and change a few channels.
- Launch an app (YouTube, Netflix, etc.) to confirm streaming works.
- If picture or sound is missing, recheck connections and TV input.
Troubleshooting (easy fixes)
- No picture: Make sure TV input = correct HDMI. Try a different HDMI port or cable.
- No network / activation failed: Check router and Ethernet cable. If on Wi-Fi, re-enter password. Reboot the router and the mini box.
- Remote not working: Replace batteries and re-pair if needed.
- Audio issues: Check TV volume and audio output settings on the mini box.
- Box frozen or slow: Unplug power for 10 seconds, plug back in, and power on again.
If these fixes don’t work, contact Verizon Fios support and tell them you are self-installing a TV One Mini Box. Keep your account number ready.
