  2. Power adapter
  3. HDMI cable
  4. Remote control (batteries may or may not be included)
  5. Quick start leaflet

Step-by-step: Installation (easy)

1) Place the box

  1. Put the X96 Mini on a flat surface near the TV.
  2. Leave some space around it so it can breathe (don’t cover it).

2) Connect HDMI

  1. Plug one end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI port on the X96 Mini.
  2. Plug the other end into an empty HDMI port on your TV (note which HDMI number).

3) Connect internet

  • Ethernet (best): plug an Ethernet cable from your router into the box’s LAN port.
  • Wi-Fi: you will connect during the first boot.

4) Power up

  1. Plug the power adapter into the box and the wall socket.
  2. The box should power on (an LED or boot screen will appear).
  3. If it does not switch on, press the power button on the box or remote.

5) Select TV input

  1. Turn on the TV.
  2. Press Input / Source on the TV remote and choose the HDMI input you used (e.g. HDMI 1).

First time setup on screen

  1. Choose English and set Region / Time zone (UK).
  2. Select display resolution — choose Auto or 1080p for most TVs.
  3. Connect to Wi-Fi: go to Settings → Network → Wi-Fi, select your network and enter the password.
  4. Allow any system updates if prompted and restart the box when asked.

Install apps & sign in

  1. Open Google Play Store (if present). Sign in with a Google account.
  2. Install common apps: YouTube, Netflix, BBC iPlayer, ITVX etc.
  3. Open each app and sign in with your account if needed.

Useful settings (quick)

  • Display: Settings → Display → set to Auto / 1080p.
  • Sound: Settings → Sound → choose Stereo/PCM if using TV speakers.
  • HDMI-CEC: Enable on TV and box so your TV can turn on/off with the box (names vary by brand).

Play files from USB

  1. Insert a USB drive into the box.
  2. Open File Manager or VLC and browse the USB to play videos, music or photos.

Basic troubleshooting (fast fixes)

  • No picture / No signal: check TV input (HDMI), reseat HDMI cable, try a different HDMI port.
  • No Wi-Fi: move box closer to router, restart router and box, or use Ethernet.
  • Remote not working: replace batteries, point remote at the box, remove obstacles.
  • Apps crash or slow: clear app cache, update app, restart box, uninstall unused apps.
  • Stuck on logo / won’t boot: unplug power 30 seconds, plug back in. If still stuck, factory reset (last resort).

Quick tips for clients

  • Use the Ethernet for better streaming.
  • Keep at least 1–2 GB free storage for smooth performance.
  • Use a small USB mouse or air-mouse for easier navigation.
  • Do regular system and app updates.
