How to Set Up Cox Mini Box Remote to TV
If you are using a Cox Mini Box with your television, you probably want to use just one remote to control both the TV and the Mini Box. This makes life easier because you won’t have to keep switching between two remotes every time you want to change volume or turn off the TV.
The good news is that programming your Cox Mini Box remote to work with your TV is very simple. You don’t need any tools, and the process usually takes only 3–5 minutes. Let’s go step by step.
Step 1: Turn On Your TV
Before starting, make sure:
- Your TV is plugged into power.
- The screen is already turned on.
- Your Cox Mini Box is connected properly to the TV.
Keep your Cox Mini Box remote in your hand, and point it toward the TV.
Step 2: Find the Setup Button on the Remote
Look carefully at your Cox remote. You will see a small button called “Setup”.
- Press and hold this button.
- Keep holding it until the small red light on top of the remote changes to green.
This green light means the remote is now in programming mode and ready to connect with your TV.
Step 3: Enter the TV Brand Code
Every TV brand has a special code that helps the remote connect.
- Using the number buttons on the remote, type in the code for your TV brand.
- For example:
- Samsung TVs might have one set of codes.
- LG, Sony, Panasonic, Vizio, and others have different codes.
- You can find the full list of codes in the Cox remote manual or on the Cox official website.
When you enter the correct code, the green light on the remote will blink twice.
Step 4: Test the Remote with Your TV
Now it’s time to check if the programming worked.
- Point the Cox remote at your TV.
- Press the Power button once.
- If your TV turns off, that means the remote was successfully paired with your TV.
If the TV does not turn off, don’t worry—just repeat the process with another code from the list until it works.
Step 5: Check the Volume and Other Buttons
Once your TV turns off and on with the Cox remote, you should also test the other buttons.
- Try the Volume Up, Volume Down, and Mute buttons.
- If these buttons work correctly, then the setup is complete.
- If they don’t, try programming again with a different TV code until everything works smoothly.
Extra Tip for Easy Setup
If you cannot find the TV code or your brand is not listed, don’t worry. The Cox remote also supports auto code search. In this mode, the remote automatically searches for the correct code. You just need to follow the on-screen instructions from Cox or the remote guide.
